Chronic lower back pain advice was created by Wildrider
Just found this site! Already read some tips and gained useful information.
I’m 34 women suffering (hate this word) tmj and lower back disc dehydration, tears, bulges and weakening of muscle..PAIN.
Numerous trips to rheumatoid specialist to no avail! Keep coming back if anything new pops up.
My doctor is very unsure on how to treat me, I haven’t been referred to any sort of specialist except pain clinic which is in a group on 20+ppl so no doctor just a talk on how to deal with pain..
The doctor today tried prescribing me ENDEP! Which I hate they and all antidepressants make me feel suicidal and depressed 10+years on them and they cause me nothing but grief.. first prescribed for migraines! I’d prefer the migraine over the feelings those pills gave me!
Feel like I’m at a utter loss, the pain I have in back is excruciating, can’t stand long or sit! I go to hospital one day a week with severe pain! They don’t do any except give me panadiene forte (I don’t want anything stronger) I don’t mind a bit of pain but to those levels NO.
So my questions would be- does anyone know of anything that could help?
I’m financially not very able at the moment to afford treatments or medications for that fact!
I live in Melbourne. Feel as if I’m bending backed into corner with no direction on how to help or what to do with myself.
I’m not depressed at all! Just in need of a little help :)

Hi Wildrider,

There are a few fellow pain sufferers in Melbourne so you may be able to catch up with some of them to trade ideas.
I suffer lumbar issues where my bones are crumbling this was found from an MRI done for a hip injury which was further identified by a nuerosurgeon who had a full spine MRI & CT with radiation done due to Chronic tennis & golfers elbow in both arms and nerve pain in my right elbow requiring a disc removal and fusion C5/6 .
That part is fine but my lumbar is screwed to put it mildly.
I survive on a bevy of nerve , pain and antidepressant medication approx 18 pills a day , some days I don’t need to eat .
Jo, one of our fellow pains gets Botox injections to help relieve her headaches it’s worth a try , I have nerves burnt every six months which gives me some relief .
You could try acupuncture if you can find a practitioner who bulk bills .
I have just started Pilates to try and build up my core strength pelvic floor, stomach and sides along with Physio .
Hope this helps

Hi Johnny,

Thank you so much for your reply :)

Wow you certainly are on a bevy on medicines but seems as thou you need them! Have you found anyone of them more useful for the pain than other?
Pilates actually that’s a really good idea, think I’ll look into that :) plus look into fellow Melbourne ppl to hook up with would be useful.
I’ve gone from walking 20km a day to 6-8km very frustrating, now after I end up in a world of pain sometimes crying especially after cleaning! That’s the worst, terrible for someone who likes a clean house.. hard trying to find a new way of life and do things :/ challenge accepted thou :)
Thanks again Johnno :)

Hey,
I was on a high level of opioids for about 2 years my pain physician wanted me of them and onto a longer lasting slow release medication which I believe you can buy over the counter.
I am on
Lyrica for nerve pain
Endep and sertraline for Depression
Circadin and oxycodone to aid in sleep
I have a pill to prevent dizziness
An extra pill to help lessen breakout pain
Endone for when I’m over this s#@t
I’m on the PBS scheme and I now have free medication for the rest of the year woohoo
Sorry I get melancholy when looking at what I take to live a semi normal life it drives me to drink yet I can’t drink because of the medication .
There is a good side and that is I wake up alive every day .
There are people suffering far worse than us .
I also take curcumin tablets which are basically Turmeric in a capsule , I have been a partaker of cider vinegar and honey for years I have a teaspoon in that with some black pepper every night (heaped teaspoon) it is supposed to help reduce inflammation hmmm the jury is still out on this .
With all medication prescribed or not always always discuss with your GP and pharmacist first.

Hi Wildrider, im so sorry to hear your in so much pain. Have you seen an orthopedic or neurosurgeon to see what their opinion or treatment options are, as they all have differing treatment options. Hopefully the wait list isnt too long.
Cheers Vicki :)
