Today was day 4 of the infusion, I forgot to mention that, all I can say Is don't be afraid because not everybody gets nasty side effects and I was a person they were worried about because of PTSD...but no side effects except the first night I laughed a lot and felt like I was drinking champers..tho that was for a short duration about 2am in the morning and a dry mouth.
Sorry I'm not much help!

Hi flightofideas,

Welcome to the CPA forum!

We actually have other discussions on Ketamine and also on Stim Implants in this category and other categories. My advice to you would be to spend some time looking through the threads and reading what has been discussed. It would be a good journey for you and learning curve. There is no point anyone here telling you the outcome, when you are asking information about the journey prior to you embarking on it.

Make sure that when you are reading these posts and you have questions, simply post in that thread and ask the questions. Someone will eventually answer them.

I hope you find our forum a supportive place and you are welcome to stay as long as you like.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide, is what to do with the time that is given to us. (Gandalf the Grey)

Thanks so much for your replies - its all helpful :) I've saved the threads I need to read through, so I'll be doing a lot of research on everything already discussed first which is definitely the best way to start out, and ask more specific questions along the way.

Thanks for such a warm welcome :cheer:

Hi Eliza
Research I have read on Ketamine seems to indicate subcutaneous injection has better results than IV infusion. It seems to me that, from what I read, I agree, it is 'hit and miss. I have been interested in Katamine, as this site seems to reflect the postitive. I'm sorry it did not work for you, but it is good you had the courage to post against the trend with your extpeience.

Hi flightofideas
Welcome to the Boards, :) there is heaps of stuff in here. If nothing else, you will get peoples thoughts, opinions and experiences. It is interesting to just 'cruse the boards and gather as much or as little as you can digest.
I am sure you will find something]

I am sorry to hear that Ketamine did not work for you - I had severe chronic pain for 45 years before the treatment at my local Hospital on a weekly (now monthly) basis via infusion. It was either have it done locally or drive to Adelaide ( 2 hour drive) weekly - no contest as far as I was concerned. I had my GP who knows me VERY well there & had NO problems at all. I stayed on my medications throughout.
I was on 390mg (no - not a typing error !) slow release morphine daily prior to the infusions & now down to 120mg. Because Ketamine changes the way your brain perceives pain, it was easy ( for me) to cut my medication - the withdrawals were far less than I thought they would be. Bad sweats & a little nauseous but that only lasted for less than a week. I still have pain & always will because of the spinal problems I have, but now I have a life !!!!

I truly believe that the relationship between you & whomever is doing the Ketamine treatment, whether as inpatient or Day Patient ( as I am ) is very important. As I have such a good relationship with my GP & don't like my Pain Specialist one bit, I was so happy that I had the option of having it done locally.

I researched EVERY article I could find on Ketamine treatments before I had mine done. Ask questions if you have any - and be positive !!
The change in my life in less than 6 months has been enormous & very positive. I hope the same for all who have the treatment.
