I was recently diagnosed with moderate hip osteoarthritis and would appreciate any input from anyone dealing with this, other forms of osteo or really from anyone (it feels really alienating out here). My gp has said i probably need hip replacement/s but doesn't think any surgeon would go near me until I first lose a lot of weight. I don't understand how osteo would go from occasional niggles to severe pain seemingly overnight ... and wish there was someone who could explain but having trouble finding anyone. Thanks for reading this

Hey Spar4ow,
Not knowing your circumstances makes it difficult to help but a few of our friends need new knees the surgeons won’t do the surgery as they are heavily overweight and the knees wouldn’t be successful as the Physio required to get bits moving they couldn’t do because of this excess weight.
Maybe ask your Dr what he can suggest to help you have these hips done

as long as I wake up alive I'm happy
Because it could be worse
