Anybody familiar with my story? was created by heatherjohnson@bigpond.com
I'm a member but I'm not sure if my past issues are still here somewhere.
Anyway, for years now I been progressively getting more pain symptoms.. peripheral neuropathy, fibromyalgia. Now I have chronic joint pain and the beginnings of deformity of hands and feet, ie swelling, redness, warmth to affected areas, nodules on joints. RA bloods show negative RA factor, raised inflammatory markers. GP is yet to examine as I've had Telehealth appointments while in isolation. He's prescribed NSAID (Celebrex?) until my examination appointment. I've read that the RA Factor doesn't need to be positive for one to have RA? I have Coeliacs Disease and my father had RA with severe deformities, so I could have ' the gene'. If I do have RA, I'm dreading the usual lengthy process of wait time for Rheumatologist appointment and possibly no diagnosis of RA, even with all the typical worsening chronic symptoms. I've had so much past trouble with specialist doctors, in that whilst my inflammatory markers might be high, there was no physical attributes to any one disease. Therefore I was put in the 'neuropathy/fibro' box, given lyrica, duloxetine and tramadol. I get little to no relief with these meds and now with this latest awful joint pain, I I'm keen to find out if all along my symptoms might all have been the beginnings of RA developing. Does my story sound familiar to anyone? It's a bit long winded, so I get it that not many may read this.
Cheers, Julie

Hi Heather,

Your story is one of the shorter ones that I’ve read I’m sorry I didn’t see this sooner ,
Do you have
Cold toes
Sore hip joints
Lower back pain
Numb shins and lower legs

Is it painful to walk first thing in the morning a feeling of walking on LEGO and marbles.
If you do I’m having this checked at present brain and spine surgeon
If I push on my spine at the neck area it compounds the nerve pain .
I will keep you in the loop re. My prognosis

Johnno

as long as I wake up alive I'm happy
Because it could be worse
