Good luck with the tooth extraction Johnno. LOL at your remark

Thank goodness I have no depression or anxiety -- as I am sure that can make things a hell of a lot worse

WAP, you are not super dumb; those podcasts etc. are very informative. There was a large study done overseas and they studied the spines of many people in different age groups. Everyone past the age of 20 had some sort of "degeneration", this increased with each decade of life lived. However, the strange thing is that although all their backs looked as though they should be in a lot of pain, only 50% of them had any pain at all. My own mother had the same situation when they found her aortic aneurysm. They told her that she should be in agony because her back looked awful and she told them that her back just got tired if she stood up for too long. She was in her eighties at the time. So the mystery is not yet solved, but screenings that show "bulging discs" and "pinched nerves" are not necessarily showing the cause of our pain. It's hard to get your head around I know, but that's where the current research is. There is a long way to go, but at the moment the best way to be treated for chronic pain is with some kind of multidisciplinary team, either in a clinic or privately. They have researched that too and people who have that form of treatment generally have better outcomes.

Not every day is a good day, but there is good in every day.

Hey WAP,
Well it took less than a half hour to get the tooth out and that was a five minute drive going and five minutes back and twenty minutes to remove it, I walked in the front door and my wife said did they put it off again .
So I am now without wisdom !
You may not know but Mary has been with us for a long time I believe she was here with us before the dinosaurs I’d have to confirm that with Pete I think his was called Dorothy the wiggles have her now.
Mary was one of the original moderators and is a mine of information .
My wife loses her voice when she smells perfume and a specialist has said it could be a cognitive issue which is phsycological and yes it is hard to understand but her throat constricts and her voice just goes so we are now going down the path of what the hell is causing voice loss .

Johnno

as long as I wake up alive I'm happy
Because it could be worse

Yes Mary I am sure that backs must get worse as one gets older -- and I am sure that once I stopped the HRT -- the bones got a lot worse with the Osteoporosis and started to disintegrate further, as I was able to cope with the pain up till about 7 years ago it was bad at times but I was able to handle it. Now though it is unbearable if on my feet for very long at all so all I want is to be able to be able to be independent and manage to do what has to be done.

So pleased all went well with the dentist for you Johnno, I lost my wisdom many decades ago.

No, I had no idea about Mary being with the forum for so long, although I did notice she was a 'Platinum' border

Interesting re your Wife and her trouble in the larynx area.

Well I attended the Pain Clinic yesterday -- I must say I have never had a more frustrating 6 hours in my life what a load of absolute rubbish and to make things worse they had the most uncomfortable chairs and not a stool in sight --I did take my own as I have to sit in the foetal position to help my back and legs.
It existed of meditation and a lot of drawing on the whiteboard --- there was not a thing said that related to me and they were saying that we had to try and walk a bit further every day -- I am lucky if I can stand up long enough to wash my dishes, but that did not seem to ring a bell with them at all.
They are saying that ALL pain can be controlled with the mind, this is madness.
