CRPS
Hi, I have CRPS following an ankle fracture 41/2 ago, my foot is pink, odemateous, stiff and painful. I had Crps 8 years ago after I fractured my other ankle, I researched treatment and was lucky to find a GP who when I asked prescribed me prednisone and nifedipine, the CRPS resolved after 6 months. Whether it was the treatment I will never know.
My current GP knows nothing about CRPS and was reluctant to prescribe those medicines,he spoke to a pain specialist who advised Lyrica,I have an appointment with him in 5 weeks. Should I go dr shopping to find one that will start me low dose naltrexone . I have watched a talk by dr Chopra and have started taking all the over the counter meds if advises. I am working hard on mobility, daily hydrotherapy, physio and massage. Lyrica has helped me sleep,I'm also taking panadol osteo , ibprophen. I live in Nth QLD,but am prepared to go anywhere.
Hey Brown dog ,
Hmmm doctor shopping I wouldn't advise that , and dosing up on over the counter meds could be a dangerous path to travel as you could do yourself harm ,I know you say I won't OD but you tend to forget what you've had and take some more.
I think having a sit down with your dr is wiser nod tell him that you have had this same diagnosis before and dr Xyz prescribed prednisone and nifedipine (last one sounds life you take it by niffing it up)haha

Yes johnno I have had that discussion with my GP and he referred me to a pain specialist, however that appointment is 5 weeks away,if treatment for CRPS is started early it can be cured.
The over the counter medication are in the Heath food range, mostly anti Oxidents, magnesium etc.
Are you familiar with Chronic regional pain syndrome?
Hey brown dog,
In its form as CRPS yes in a workplace injury I received two tears in the Labral in the right hip socket one was debriefed in 2011 the other was debrided in 2013 I now have it in my right leg hip to toes inc. burning ,twitching ,cold toes ,hot ass (nothin to be rude about) and shingles also got me in the groin and am I sick of it rearing its ugly head if I get down or stressed and the shakes it could be the meds but I have to be careful with cups of tea or coffee .
The burning I think is the worst.

Hi Brown dog.
Reading your post reminded me of my use of Prednisolone in the past to treat Severe Myasthenia Gravis (ie Life threatening) A large dose to start off with and down to 60 mgs per day for about 3 months where it was slowly reduced over about a year down to 5mgs per day.
One of the side effects of large doses over a long time can cause osteoporous which I now have some 16 years later.and maybe that is shown in your bone scan. Nifedpine is usually prescibed for cardiac symptom.
There are strong warnings about the use of Ibuprofen by people who have heart problems and would check with your GP or chemist whether this is so.
The same with Lyrica FDA warnings it can cause serious problems with the hands, legs and feet in people with heart problems. again check with your Dr or Pharmacy
Hope this is worth checking out
Regards arjay. 🙂 🙂

Many years ago I was prescribed glasses I wasn't happy as it meant I was ageing well when I got home I told my wife that I was getting those new "transvestite" glasses my wife finally got up from the floor after collapsing in peals of laughter I checked the paperwork and realised my mistake, she still reminds me when she wants a laugh
