Hope everyone is having the best day possible for them!

Our impending trip is 4 sleeps away now!! I would like to ask anyone from SA a few questions please! We are flying into Adelaide and picking up a hire car. We are then going to explore around Adelaide and the hills and then travel to Murray Bridge, Tailem Bend, Meningie, Kingston, Robe, Beachport, Mt Gambier then through the border to Portalnd, Warnabool followed by the Great Ocean Road and up into Melbourne.

My questions are; once we are out of the city and making our way through these towns what kind of medical facilities can we expect; nursing post, district hospital? I'm not sure of what to expect population wise, I realise Mt Gambier will be a big town with lots of facilities. I also think once we cross the border most of the towns will be big!

Any info will be great appreciated...thanks in advance πŸ™‚

Hi Florrie ♥

This list should be helpful;

Hi everyone πŸ™‚

LOL Wendles. πŸ˜† I agree and now I know that my snake identification skills basically stink, I won't be doing it again... :S

You must be getting excited about your great trip Florrie. :cheer:

My hubby is having his first week off in two years next week but we're not going anywhere. He still needs to be here to run the business even though he's not manually doing any wholesale product deliveries every night. πŸ™ Not really a full break but it's better than none at all I guess. We'll probably do some small day trips, providing this rain eases up a bit!

I hope everyone is having an easy day. πŸ™‚

Di ♥

Thanks so much for all your good wishes for our impending trip. I must begin to pack a few bits and pieces as there is a bit to do before we leave early Saturday morning.

I will be taking my "emergency info" envelope with me, so if anything happens all my husband has to do is hand it over. I will be taking my drugs over in Webster packs with a few days extra supplies to be safe.

Don, I must be a bit confused as I would not have thought we would be taking a freeway?? I would have expected our planned route to be fairly quiet and off the beaten track so to speak!! Not a major thoroughfare by any means, maybe it is going to be very different to what we expect!

Di, thanks for the hospital link, I am desperately hoping I won't need to go near one! We are leaving our wholesale delivery business (milk and dairy products) for the very first time. We have awesome staff in place and my husband is more of an overseer as such, but still works everyday. Our youngest son (21) is filling his shoes whilst we are away and yes, the mobile phones are coming with us!! I would chuckle if you are in the milk industry too! I really hope you and your husband enjoy your week off too.

Florrie to get to Murray Bridge you can go up the freeway or take the long way through the hills, but you have to take the freeway to Tailem Bend not a long distance and not the traffic you would be used to, once there you have two choices, follow this road through to Kieth and turn off to Mt Gambier or turn off just out of Tailem Bend and follow this Road it goes along the Coorong and follows the coast to Mt Gambier.

Good morning everyone πŸ™‚

Oh wow Florrie not the same product but similar service type. My husband handles wholesale fresh bakery products - 7 days a week - 363 days a year (not cakes or pastries).
I had a big smile when I read you post. I can't wait to let my hubby know... he's sleeping ATM. πŸ™‚

Mrs Shingle, I know what you're talking about with school carnivals. We have a Christian school up the road that insists on playing music to bring their kids in from lunch break. We call it the drone music to gather the flock!!! :woohoo: I wouldn't mind if it was up lifting and cool music but it's so boring and dull. Those poor kids must be half asleep before they get to the class room.

I still have not began to pack or organize my webster pack from the pharmacy....must do's on today's list!

Don, we are taking your advice from last week and are planning on travelling through the Coorong district! We are not "city" people so to hear about having to travel on a freeway was a bit of a shock and daunting whilst in unfamiliar surroundings! I'm glad my husband will be doing the driving! We are a bit "freaked"out about driving in the big city of Melbourne as we opted to drop the hire car there instead of the airport....not sure which would be worse!

Di, I will let you know in a few weeks if we will "dare" to leave the business again! I am really hoping all will be okay otherwise it is going to be rather stressful.

After a rough couple of weeks, I am feeling quite ok (a nice change) apart from being very tired at the moment and will have to be very careful with pacing over the next few days. My world can change very rapidly, so fingers crossed I will remain at "my normal sick self"level!!

Wishing everyone a day full of sunshine! πŸ™‚

Morning all just got back from my appointment with my surgeon for post operative check up, I have a cyst on the bottom corner of the battery pack, which he said is very common, a build up of fluid and blood and scar tissue, they are not going to touch it as it should be dissolved by my body over time, would explain the sensitive spot, as for it getting caught all the time he said put on weight with a laugh, not much he can do as it is the smallest unit. I now have a foot splint I have to wear for my foot droop, next month I go back to have a cast made for a custom made one. It does make a big difference when I walk now, as my foot is pointed up when I take a step rather than just flopping.

Oh I do wish you people in the East would send some of your rain over here to the West. We are so dry here and in desperate need of good soaking rain. When we get huge downpours of rain, it rarely floods, because our soil is mostly sand.
There are many parts of the coastal plain I have worked in along the West Coastline in the Perth Metro area, where you can stand there with a hose on full bore pointing straight at the sand, and the water simply disappears straight into the sand without any splashing or creating puddles. The whole lot just goes straight through. And this is what happens to the rain too.

It's such a shame that it isn't the West coast that doesn't get the frequency of rain.

I wish the ring (this Chronic Pain) had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened. (Frodo Baggins)
So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide, is what to do with the time that is given to us. (Gandalf the Grey)

Ditto for SA. Although we have had a couple of showers since Christmas!

A couple of showers, ours evaporated before it hit the ground, the only thing that came with that was higher humidity and I hate humidity bring back the days of clear heat, I can cope with that all day long, just hate being wet through and clammy and nights are even worse.

Titan the foot splint gets a bit of getting use to, I have a generic one at the moment, the one size fits all well not all, people of my size, when they take a cast of my foot and leg to make a custom one it will be a lot more comfortable, you have a choice of colours or patterns and I can even have it hinge and the ankle joint for a bit more flexibility. It has made a big difference when walking, I don't trip over the slightest bumps any more, the left leg is a real fashion statement now, compression stockings and the splint on top, I will not be entering and fashion parades any time soon, foot droop is a big drag literally, it took a big effort to keep reminding yourself to lift the foot so you would not trip all the time, now the splint remedies that problem.
