Hi Johnno
What a very lovely message to post about your special wife and your boys (men). I am very sure that you deserve some of the credit for the success of producing such lovely and considerate men because i have noted how thoughtful and supportive you are on the forum. You have helped me through bad days with a smile or the strength to fight, so thank you and sending you a hug

Hi To dancerdolphin and melmerigan
I have been off-line for a bit but wanted to welcome you both and introduce myself as we all have similar CP. I have neck and shoulder damage which causes head aches and migraines too. My injuries have occurred over many years due to a reoccurring theme of accidents with horses. I am a very slow learner. 🙂 I am on a coctail of tablets to try and keep me together and Imigan MKII injections (self administered) for migraines. I have found that hydrotherapy and bowen therapy has helped but not always possible. The neck and shoulder damage isnt my only trigger for my migraines, citrus, chemical, light sensitivity are a few others.
I look forward to chatting with you both

Hi Jacquie and Johnno, thanks for your welcome 🙂 Already I can't believe how supportive and encouraging you all have been, so thank you! It's been really lovely receiving all your messages, I never realised how supportive online communities could be. As Johnno said, knowing that 'You're not alone" is so important.

Johnno, I'm in the Sydney area but I've posted in the coffee meet up thread to see if anyone else would like to meet up.I'm glad to have found these forums, thanks!

Hope to get to know you all soon 🙂 :silly:

Hi everyone,
I'm new here and it's my first experience with a forum. Like all of you I live with severe chronic pain and have done for more than 20 years. I've had numerous surgeries and the last was a L3-S1 fusion that failed miserably and has left me with extensive nerve damage and dead body parts. I live in a small rural town where doctors come and go constantly so a "relationship" with them is non existent. Since the fusion I've been on morphine based meds as I had 2 small children to raise on my own and it would have been impossible without it. My children have now deserted me and who can blame them, it's been even more difficult for them in many ways and I have no other family. Even though I've lived here for 17 years I don't know anyone as I've been housebound. A few weeks ago another doctor decided to withdraw the pain meds completely and I'm going through withdrawals and what little mobility I had is completely gone. I was referred to yet another pain clinic but it's an hours drive away and it's physically impossible for me to attend 5 days a week for 4 weeks. It's a huge deal for me just to get to the doctors office and I have to plan it a week in advance and phsyche myself up for the extra pain it creates. I also need to arrange community transport or a taxi which is not ideal and becomes costly as well. There are no services in this town that I can obtain and I'm at a loss of what to do. My mental health is extremely poor and I no longer have contact with any counsellors or mental health workers as my privacy and confidentiality rights have been breached more than once.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thankyou.

Hi Kerrie57,

Welcome to the forum :). I'm new here too and haven't used forums much either. So far everyone has been so supportive and welcoming. So sorry to hear about your situation, it sounds like things are hard at the moment. We are all here to listen and support you, and remember you're not alone here. Thank you for taking the time to share your story, I'm sorry I don't have any advice in regards to your medical situation as I am only new to the medical stuff myself. However I'm sure someone here will have some ideas 🙂 .

Looking forward to getting to know you more, and thanks again for introducing yourself. I've only been here for a few days and everyone here has been so supportive and caring 🙂

-Emily

Kerrie,
If you are near Geelong there 's some fantastic classes for people in chronic pain who feel they have nowhere else to go.

Hi Emily, Pam and Jenn,

Thankyou for your response and for making me feel welcome. It's a tough road to travel and you all know that sometimes, more often than not for me, it seems insurmountable. I have yet again spent hours on the phone trying to seek assistance but it seems I'm wasting my time and money as no-one cares. I live in rural NSW so I'm a long way from Geelong but thanks for the tip Jenn. It saddens me to think that there are thousands just like me who are reaching out for help and it's not forthcoming, it shouldn't be this hard and I'm both disgusted and exhausted. Thank goodness I have my beautiful cat Buddy, as long I feed him he loves me unconditionally, can't ask for more than that!

Thanks again,
Kerrie

Hi Kerrie57,
Welcome to the CPA Forum 🙂

If nothing else you will find support and understanding here! We are a friendly bunch who have something in common and thats Chronic Pain 🙁 We all have different experiences to share and can be there to support you but we just can't give you any advice as we are not professionals!!

I'm sorry you are so isolated it must be awful for you 🙁 I can't imagine how lonely you must feel at times, but please try not to feel alone anymore as you have found our forum and there is usually someone on here at most times of the day or night.

You can offload or vent if you are having a really bad day and we will be there to cheer you up or empathise as we know how you feel!

Check out the rest of the site and you may find some information which may help, even if it is something small.

Look forward to getting to know you

Jo 🙂

I just stick out my chin and grin and say, oh

The sun will come out tomorrow
So you gotta hang on
'til tomorrow, come what may!"

Hi Kerrie,
A couple of ideas,
Is there a church in your town and are you able to talk to the god botherer himself ,they may be able to offer some assistance.
Is there an RSL/Apex group to see if they could possibly help.
Is there a CWA group they generally are very helpful
With the pain clinic it may have transport that could pick you up failing that call an ambulance.
Getting to the doctor call an ambulance.
I believe that ambulances if they are required for an emergency such as yours should be available.
This also could be away to meet people in your town .
I do hope I'm not going over some old ground and this may help you to at least do the pain clinic and a way to get to the doctors and hopefully if there is a church group they could possibly be able to help you with some tasks around the home.
