Hi I currently live in victoria but want to move to nth qld tropics for myself mentally to move on from my last 3yrs of wasted life and time in agony watching myself and all my dreams disappear and also for the extra heat and humidity for my body physically to cope better, however i need somewhere i will have access to a good comprehensive pain specialist doctor. my current treatments include ketamine, lidocane and magnesium infusions as basic requirements. I will also need a good GP preferably bulk bill who can do tac requests and possibly other services like psychology and community care outreach programs.

Is there anyone from Qld who can point me towards a town townsville, cairns, noosa or anywhere else above Brisbane/Bunderberg way that will have the facilities i need mainly the pain specialist who can do ketamine.

Thanks

Hi Mad Stona,

I am sure that the warmer weather will help you, although unless you have already tried it, be careful. Some chronic pain states are actually made worse by the warmer weather! However, I think that most are improved - I know I am heaps better in the warmer weather.

I can't tell you what services are available in far north Qld. but be careful because I have some vague memory of hearing that somewhere up there, there is to a huge range of services, but in some places there are. This information is not new, so do your research.

Hopefully someone else on here will live there and will be able to help you. Good luck with the move. Let us know how it all goes.

Mary

Hi Mad Stona

If you scroll down this link you'll find all the pain management services in Qld listed after NSW. http://www.painaustralia.org.au/consumers/pain-clinics.html The public ones all have health.qld.gov.au in their address - the others are private. I've no idea what any of the private ones charge.

I've also no idea what services they all provide. My suggestion would be to contact the ones in the areas you may be interested in and ask about their services and how long their waiting lists are. I hope this is of some help.

Best of luck

jrp
