How utterly frustrating it is to have nearly every single pain med now prescription and like paracetamol/codene the price is inflated as its now restricted and now the TGA are considering paracetamol.

Clearly none of the people making these decisions suffer pain every, single day, nor do they seem to care about the struggles we face.

They blame it on abuse of the drug but there will people will who abuse things, food, alcohol, drugs and more.

We need drugs regulated but we also need to trust the majority that do the right thing to control their pain.....I am so frustrated and tired of bring made to feel like I am a drug abuser.

Hey Davros,

I know what is being done by the TGA is for the best of the majority as you and I know it’s very easy to take too many meds if your of that mind , luckily those of us who do suffer can find that we know how much is correct .

There has been a lot of problems over the past 10 - 20 years and finally the TGA is reigning it in unfortunately they are trying to close the gate after the horse has bolted , there are a large number of cases where people including children have overdosed on over the counter medication or off the shelf medication .

When you post anything pertaining to medication please use medication as the d word is not a great word to use when conversing about medication

Well thats a great lot of support....for the TGA.....so glad I came here, to get schooled by a moderator that wants more restriction and expect new people not to use the d word....are you for real?

No I dont know how easy it is to overdose if I am of "that mind" but if I was of "that mind" a packet of paracetamol would not be my choice to deal with it.

I thought this would be a place we found support and understanding on issues like this and how frustrating it is to be treated like a paracetamol pusher (I would say drug abuser but you dont like the D word) instead of just being everyday people trying to keep their pain under control.

Feel free to cancel my membership clearly this is not a place to support pain sufferers but to school them

Hi Davros,

Welcome to the new Chronic Pain Australia Forum!

My apologies for the misunderstanding in the previous post.  Of course, you are welcome to use the word/term 'drugs' when referring to any medication.  They are of course drugs at the end of the day.  I think what Johnno was trying to say is that if you clarify it better, then there are no problems with using the word drug.  I use it all the time, but sometimes I put in brackets just once (medication) so that all our other readers know that you are not talking about illicit drugs.

Johnno is only trying to protect our forum.  Like me, he is weary from protecting the forum, because we have been heavily attacked by drug pushers over the years and it is so hard to keep that conversation under control while we run a 100% open and very public forum.  They come here trying to sell all manner of illegal drugs and often times the term gets misconstrued by other members.

Please don't leave the forum because of this reason.

However, outside of that, your criticisms of the TGA and all other institutions that have anything to with the taking of pain medications/drugs is founded in fact, and has become a huge problem for all of us who suffer from chronic pain.  It has become a minefield to negotiate when trying to find a GP or pain specialist who will take you seriously and prescribe the right kind of drug for your pain so that you can get some measure of relief.  As for Paracetamol.  That is one of the most toxic and dangerous drugs we can take and far easier to overdose on than Opioid drugs.  It causes liver damage in so many people who keep swallowing them without taking any notice of how many they are taking.

Davros, you are welcome to stay and discuss this further.  I may come to join you using my private account, and not as the Administrator of this forum.

Regards,

Peter

Hi Davros ,

im sorry for any misunderstanding I didn’t man to sound condescending but the. ‘D’word I try to avoid for the very reason if used in public or on a public forum it can be taken the wrong way , I like you also suffer chronic pain and in the last two years have had approx 10 surgical procedures to reduce my pain but the worst area which they can’t or won’t fix is my lumbar spine .

just everyday moving is painful I am on 150 mg Lyrica twice a day plus endone, oxycontin, sertraline, circadin, Panadol osteo, etc all up 7 pills in the morning and 9 at night so please don’t think I’m lecturing but as peter said it’s an open forum anyone can and do watch it , the TGA unfortunately has a hard job ahead of it and hopefully once they get a grip on things people who suffer will be better understood and helped .

cheers mate

In my humble opinion, to cope with something, you first have to understand it. If the brain can somehow explain what is happening, it is easier to understand it, and as a consequence, to solve it.
If by support you mean empathy, perhaps there are other places on the Internet where you can get empathy.
