VIC hospital cuts and amazing UK Doco pls read!!
I was listening to 774 ABC in Melbourne this morning on the way to the Dr's and because some utter #&%# in Canberra decided to skew and interpret an independent population report suit them to their liking, they were saying that because the population in Victoria was decreasing, they have had to slash MILLIONS of dollars to every hospital in the state, I nearly vomitted when they interviewed the independent researcher who was initially getting grilled on air saying I didn't say this. This was not how it's written in my report.
This poor woman, who was completely DROPPED IN IT by the government said WHOA, STOP. I also didn't hear the whole thing which I'm sure you could listen to now on The ABC website. I'm also not having a great day and was concentrating hard on just driving so I might have bits mixed up a little
Grappers are you in Melbourne and does anyone know if this was a State and Territory wide announcement?
She went on to say that I told the Federal Government that Victoria's population didn't grow as much as it was forecasted to, NOT THAT IT HAD DECLINED and gone backwards like the federal government have said. The Government have actually said that because Victoria's population is declining we have to make huge cuts to hospital funding in the state from the independent report from this poor woman. She said Victoria's population has grown during this period but just not as much as they were expecting. HOW DO THEY GET AWAY WITH THIS, Thank you ABC for tracking her down and getting the truth out there.
NOW all the hospitals were releasing statements this morning about how many beds they were closing and where etc... but the WORST one of all was from The Alfred Hospital which has one of the best trauma units in the world, check out a UK documentary that started this month on SBS. Go to SBS On Demand, but you have to watch it TODAY BECAUSE IT EXPIRES!!!! The 1st Episode was shot in Melbourne on The Alfred's Trauma unit and how stunned this travelling documentary Dr is by how incredible it is, well they have to shut beds in their world renowned TRAUMA UNIT.
If you want to watch this amazing episode google SBS on Demand, click on programs, then locate EXTREME ER in the left hand column, if you miss this post today I did see a youtube link for it but I didn't check it out. It's also known in the UK as Extreme A & E and he was politely telling us YOU HAVE IT GOOD!! I must watch some other episodes to see how good and bad other countries are. America will be interesting to say the least
I react to 80% of medications very differently to others, DO NOT EVER let one one MY stories EVER stop you from trying something. We are all so different. It might be the key to relieving your CP. May your trip on The-Med-Go-Round be a short one!
Weather no I am in SA but we have the same problem, the state government is cutting millions of dollars off the budget and turn around and say they shedding beds and staff and that will not affect front line services or waiting times, blind Freddie could tell you closing beds and wards as affect on all aspects within the hospital, they need the Pollies to wait like all public patients do for basic services.

Guess my waiting list time is going to extend itself beyond 2 years, just for them to tell me what I already know!jeez the government is so screwed up!i bet if granny Gillard was a chronic pain patient there would be no waiting list and private health all the way!so bloody selfish, meant to be there to protect the interests of the citizens of Australia, not just look after and line their own pockets.gah I'm going to England for the NHS,probably be better than this joint.
Weather yes I watched that show when it was aired, best survival rate from road traffic accidents world wide, and he came here to see why, America can't get into a hospital unless you have health insurance, but I must say they have made a lot of headway in the treatment of injured soldiers, not that it extends to the general population though. Like my stim, soldiers were getting this years ago for chronic pain and have a look and some of the new prosthesis's they know use, big gap in treatment.
