I just read this post and I'm horrified!!!

Gee, where does it end??? Yes Wendles my chemist often has these talks with me but I tell them "well, I've actually halved my meds and I'm hoping to be referred to a professor of pain". I'm just hoping that referral will be approved.

We shouldn't have to justify our meds to anyone!!! Full stop...do they want to live with this??? I don't think so!

Goer me dead about six years later a letter arrived full of apologies with a cheque for a couple of hundred dollars , no explanation or apology we rang and they stated it was an adjustment from about six years prior (somebody stuffed up) . And he didn't even get interest !

Still no idea of what's going on, I have been back to my GP because I caught the bloody flu, that's another story, I asked her if she has heard anymore about what's going on, reply no, but did show me the response she wrote back in my defence, hell they can come check my house out if they like, I have nothing to hide.
Taxman I think just about everyone at one stage in their lives get audited by the tax department, they sought me out one year as well, I said to them talk to my accountant, but they still kept harassing me, turned out they had missed a section of my claim form, no apologies nothing, I did get my refund check in the end all be very late and no compensation either.

i also feel bad for your GP, if they are trying to say that you are getting too much medication and potentially selling it on, they would also have o be saying that you gp was ignorant enough no to understand what you acceptable medication needs are or worse, that she is part of the scam- thats the other issue i have with the involvement of DEA= we already have pain specialists who work with our GP's, in my case my Gp is also a qualified anaesthetists so is very familiar with the concepts of pain control, they stay in close contact with each other so there is a clear understanding of what medications i am on, then we have the drug authority system for precriptions that means the federal government has direct information about what we are being prescribed, then there is alos an authority number that is issue by our state helath department so when we get these cases like yours or the one i had heard of where the patient was chnaged to methadone and sent to the methodone clinic, it means the DEA feels they know better than all these others! what arrogance! do they think our g['s are stupid or criminal! -the DEA staff who make these allogations do not have the full clinic picture, at best they have the gp's notes which tend to be brief, but theycertainly do not have the benefit of a real clinic exam and without that they are missing a large chunk of the information to make such a judgement- sadly the criminlas still know exactly how to use the system and get away with it

I have been on the same dose for years, my GP posts in my scripts for authorisation when the prescriptions are due, they send them directly to me for so many weeks supply, that cycle has never changed, someone is trying to read something between the lines from what who knows, I suppose it keeps someone in a job with too much power over peoples lives.
Maybe they think they can shift me onto methadone, sorry been there, still have the tablets from that trial with only a few missing.

i think you are right about a person having to much power ANd also having to justify the need for their position- thats the way many government positions work- i hope they don't try and push you to methadone, i have heared of that happening before but its be people who are only managed by a gp and who have not be able to get into a pain unit in the past- you may have a atable pattern long term with your GP but you have also had input from pain specialists - any so called health professional who thinks they can get a full picture a a patient just by reviewing case notes and letters is being very arrogant to say the least. for yo to be diverting your meds and selling them on the corner street, you would have to have a very incompetent GP or at least a very naive one not to have picked up suspicious behaviour, in which case she would not continue to prescribe, so theyare virtually saying that patients and their gps are in business togetther- sad thing is that neither you or your GP will get an apology when there is no eveindence to support the allegations and if you were not lucky enough to have a good relationship with an experienced GP you could find that this kind of thing scares the gp off from prescribing the meds you need and that would be criminlal

I never thought about that point about the pain specialist silly me, my GP prescribes under the guidance of the pain specialist, so I suppose she would have pointed that out to them in her return statement, still no word yet, my meds haven't been blocked yet.
I see my specialist next month so no doubt he will have something to say, if they do block them I will not be going to try methadone again, I rather take my complaint straight to government house and fight for my rights as a human being and not a puppet to political power play.

hopefully no news is good news, i suspect tha even if they have realized that as you have not only a long term GP but a pain specialist supervising your care, it is most improbable that ther has been any criminal activity involving your meds- you will probably simply not hear any more of the matter- certainly i doubt either you or Gp will get an apology!- in the unlikely event that they did try t block you meds i agree, take the bull by the horns and go straight to govt house/ombudsman, today tonight etc becaue it will just be one spotty eyed beauracrat playing power games who would need to be "re educated about what his/her role should be!

i really do think you are unlikely to hear anything more
