hi everyone, i know it has been ages since i have been here, but i am still around struggling with the pain, like all of us
anyway, i just wanted to talk about Cauda Equina, I have been developing the symptoms gradually, i have been having issues for about the last 12 months, my gp referred me to see a rectal specialist who wanted to do a Rectal cord stimulator, given i have a spinal cord stim, i broke down and cried, so he said physio may help, so i have been seeing a specialist pelvic physio and she has been great, albeit nothing is really helping with the problems, but the surgeon and pain specialist dont seem bothered
i think i will need to speak up again about my very embarrassing problem
hi Johnno, have mentioned it to my gp, spoken with spinal surgeon again (and just had yet another fusion, this time thoracic region) and he didnt seem interested in it at all, the pelvic physio ive been seeing referred me to the National Continence Association - and they have done a full assessment in relation to my needs under NDIS, but again no-one seems to think it is much of a big deal, except me, living with chronic pain is bad, but having continence rectal and urinary is just awful!
I’m not going to horrible but I was in the same position as you with the chronic pain ( not the cauda equine) and not getting answers and I was advised to see a psychologist but you need to find one who listens and understands not one that confuses you and you should be able to get them to report to your GP that you are in a dark place pain wise , he/she should get a report and he/she should action it straight away .
Are you covered under a private health fund if you aren’t you could try the ambulance to take you to hospital due to the pain .
I wish I lived nearby so as to offer assistance.
as long as I wake up alive I'm happy
Because it could be worse
hey Johnno, Im not at risk of doing anything, but the thoughts are there, i have good psychiatrist and psychologist that i see regularly
it would be good to have a chronic pain buddy to share a coffee with, although i have been making some nice friends in the village (retirement) i moved into because of my limitations, i am only 53, but they let me in due to my health
the pain and other issues - they just get to me, as you would understand im sure
