Dear Garfield
Migraines are something I would not wish on my worse enemy. It is a very controlling pain that robs you of sight, messes with your thinking and sends you to bed for many hours BUT the more you fight it the worse it gets. I try to think of each migraine as wiping the slate clean and after the migraine hangover goes I find the tension is less in my body so therefore the migraine isn't my enemy.
I find I must do something positive after a migraine to balance out the negative of the migraine. I hope that you can find some small positive or smile each day to bring a light back into your life. I am happy to share my smiles with you, if you like. :)
Sending smiles and hugs
Wendles

Gentle hugs to you GarfieldRules ♥,

You've been armed with enough to digest here already.

The only extra info I'd like to help you with at this point is;

The care plan for chronic conditions are for your 5 free visits to allied health resource, physio, dietitian, etc..
www.humanservices.gov.au/customer/servic...ease-management-plan

Then there's the extra Mental Health Care Plan which is for up to 12 10 bulk billed (some charge over the bulk bill rate) visits per calendar year to a psychologist.
www.gpqld.com.au/page/Programs/Mental_He...lth_Care_Initiative/
I think this one just changed to only 10 visits per year but I may be incorrect on that one.

They are both obtained through your GP and you should ask for them BOTH to be actioned immediately for you GarfieldRules. xo

Any one with better or more updated info, please let us all know.
Di

Thankyou all so much for your very supportive posts. Peter you are right. I guess I was hoping for some wonder drug I could go on that would allow me to get off the painkillers (codeine & Paracetomil).

My stress levels are really high. Dealing daily with a very difficult 3yr old who has alot of problems is putting alot of stress on me. Dealing now with my hubbies mum and how its affecting my hubbie is I guess putting alot more stress on me.

I have always been a wound up type person who stresses very easily. I have tried meditation in the past with no luck because the headaches/migraines were too much. I guess I just don't know how to unwind.

I have the GP tomorrow arvo so I will work out the care plan thing and see how I go. Thanks Di for those links too. That will be very helpful. I actually cried when I read all your posts. Just to know that there is someone out there who cares enough about me to respond makes the world of difference.

Thankyou again everyone. You have all given me some very good ideas for my situation. Will keep you posted on how things go. xx

Hello GR, I am so sorry you have so much to contend with at the moment, not easy at all for you. There have been some good suggestions made by other memebers so I won't add my two bob's worth!

I send loads of hugs your way and hope you are not feeling so alone and desperate anymore. I know it isn't easy, but chin up! Dig deep and deeper if need be and one foot in front of the other.

All the best and take care :)

GR I would have thought they would have got you off the codeine, some of your migraines could be contributed to rebound headaches from long term codeine use. Have you ever discussed this with your pain specialist, if not may be a good time to try. Try and do a breathing meditation, this puts all thoughts into the control of breathing itself, so your mind will be distracted in achieving this type of meditation.

Hugs Don
