31 yr old male here with lower/mid back pain. been having issues getting the proper care and treatment from doctors, I have been given diagnosis of sciatica and slight disc protrusion but nothing else yet I have been in constant pain for over a decade. I cannot explain why, doctors supposedly cannot explain why, they just write my script after script of panadine forte and tell me to 'rest'. I have been for xrays, scans, all that jazz yet they find nothing really so just tell me its either in my head or give me suss looks. I am pretty over this bias view towards pain relief in this country, its completely silly. I am on lyrica as of few weeks ago but the dosages are still way too low (75mg/day) I am off the codeine as I am over the damage its doing, would rather deal with the pain but I have a family and a job I need to do so this is getting a bit too much.
My new doctor (old one quit medicine all the sudden, same practice) seems very understanding and I think once she gets that I am truly suffering then hopefully she will help me get the dosage right and stable. I dont really know what else I can ask for, I am not a doctor. . . . I just wish one would care enough to think outside the box and tell me what the hell is really wrong so I can get proper treatment.
Take your partner or wife with you and discuss your pain thoroughly and where and what ,doctors can't give out medication willy nilly they need a cause a problem and try to find a cure , just be totally upfront with your doctor if you find yourself in tears don't worry they will give you more compassion if they know you are human .
as long as I wake up alive I'm happy
Because it could be worse
Just letting you know many of us in here have gone/are going through what you are.
You are not alone
Once I could laugh with everyone
Once I could see the good to me
Holding the world inside
Now the world is grey to me
Nobody can see you gotta believe it
Oh oh the night comes down
And I get afraid of losing my way
Oh oh the night comes down
And it’s dark again

Yep couldn't agree more CptSpaz.
I just love the whole attitude you get from staff at hospital ED's of being treated like a "junkie whore" (My partners description) because your ailment involves pain medication. Most consistent attitude we have experienced from staff at various hospitals. I work for a pathology company and she is a professional. It seems that until we qualify ourselves we get left to suffer. My only suggestion to you is that if you are ever prescribed Palexia without a doctor being able to specifically tell you what is causing your pain, tread very warily. Our experience has been one of near death. Not intentionally attempting to be dramatic. Just calling a spade a spade. If you go near this drug, do lots of research first and make sure you are closely managed while on it.
More importantly, as you say, they need to determine the cause of your pain. Good luck.
